Support for International MBA Students

The Caledonian MBA has a programme of support designed specifically for our international students. Developed through suggestions and feedback from our international MBA Alumni, our extended induction programme has evolved to meet the most significant issues that our international students experience.

These extra classes and workshops will help you adapt to the Scottish education system and get the most out of your time with us.

English classes

As part of your programme our dedicated English langauge tutor provides weekly vocabulary and spoken English classes specifically for MBA students.

Academic classes

We offer workshop throughout the year on topics such as:

• Academic writing skills
  We appreciate that the form of submission students may be used to in their own country may be very different from the demands of the Scottish academic system. It is therefore important for us to explain our requirements and to give guidance on our interpretation of academic writing.
• Essay & report writing
  Here the focus is on the correct structuring of various forms of required formal assignments.
• Referencing & Plagiarism
  The submission of published work and some other types of material is a serious academic offence and given the very different rules which apply across the world it is incumbent upon the course team to make sure that our regulations are not breached in innocence.
• Oral Presentations
  Many modules require group presentations and in some cases these may be assessed. This workshop is intended to give some general guidelines about techniques for effective delivery.
• Advanced Information Searches
  The library’s information systems makes an important contribution towards the development of independent learning skills and to the successful completion of the research element of the MBA.
• Critical Analysis Skills
  A series of classes aimed specifically at international students will provide you with the critical academic skills necessary for thinking and working at postgraduate level.
